In brief

  • Exporting a whole industry has a fixed price: £199 to £379, depending on the industry.
  • The price of an individual selection depends mainly on industry, region and the fields every record must contain.
  • You receive a written quote stating the number of records and the date of the data; only your acceptance turns it into an order.
  • One-off payment, no minimum term. The price in the quote is the full price.
  • Compare offers by price per usable record, not price per row.

Prices per industry

Price for a one-off export of a whole industry. The records in our dataset are not yet assigned to industries; the column therefore shows the market size according to the ONS, not the number of records delivered. The quote states that number. Prices shown are the full price – nothing is added. Selections by nation, postcode area or your own filters are quoted on request.

What is fixed

  • Quote before you order. You know scope, columns, the date of the data and price before you decide. The request itself is free.
  • One-off purchase. You pay for one export and keep the file. There is no subscription and no notice period.
  • Full prices. The amount in the quote is the amount you pay; nothing is added.
  • Same structure for all industries. 15 columns as CSV, or XLSX or JSON on request, described on the export and sample file page.

What determines the price

We can only quote for a specific selection. We need these details because they determine how many records are delivered and how much work the compilation takes:

Details needed for a quote and how they affect the size of the export.
DetailExampleWhy it matters
Industryone of the 21 industries or UK SIC codesIndustries differ greatly in size. The official figure per industry shows the size of the market, not the size of an export.
Regionthe whole UK, individual nations, regions or postcode areasThe number of businesses depends heavily on the region, see businesses by nation and region.
Required fieldsonly records with a complete address, a website or an email addressRequired fields narrow the selection to the records you can actually use for your purpose.
Columns and formatall columns as CSV, or selected columns as XLSXThe standard is a CSV with all columns; changes are agreed in the quote.
Countrythe UK or an EU countryThere is no ready-made catalogue for other countries; we check what can be delivered for each request.
Delivery frequencyone-off or regularThe standard is a one-off delivery; regular deliveries are agreed separately.

How to compare offers

Two offers for company addresses can only be compared if they describe the same selection: the same industry, region and required fields. Then divide the price by the number of records you can really use for your purpose, for a postal mailing by the number of records with a complete address. A worked example is in the guide Buying UK business data: what to check.

Also check whether a price is one-off, monthly or yearly, whether VAT is added and whether you buy the data or only rent them for individual mailings. The company databases compared page compares the types of providers and sources.

What the price does not include

  • No consent to marketing and no TPS screening. An export contains no consent. Sole traders and partnerships outside Scotland need consent or a soft opt-in (reg. 22(3)) for marketing emails, and you must screen phone numbers against TPS and CTPS before sales calls. Details: PECR rules for B2B email and calls.
  • No guarantee of delivery or reachability. Email addresses are not checked for deliverability, phone numbers not for reachability, and not every record contains every field.
  • No legal advice. Whether your use is permitted depends on your purpose and approach.

Frequently asked questions about price

How much does the export of a whole industry cost?

Depending on the industry, £199 to £379; the prices per industry are in the table on this page and on every industry page. For a selection by nation, postcode area or your own filters (for example only records with a website), you receive a quote. The database status page shows how far the dataset has got.

What does the quote contain?

Country, industries, region and filters, the columns and format, the number of records, the date of the data, the price and the expected delivery date. A contract is only concluded when you accept the quote.

How many records do I get for my industry?

What the quote confirms. It states the number of records for your selection and the date of the data. The dataset holds 2.676.396 records (as at 4 November 2026); they are not yet assigned to industries, so only the quote states the number per industry.

Is there a subscription or minimum term?

No. You pay once for an export. Regular deliveries are possible if you want them; we then agree frequency and price separately.

Is the price in the quote the full price?

Yes. Prices at Contact Database are the full price; nothing is added to the amount in the quote.

Can I see what the file looks like first?

Yes. The sample file shows all columns with entirely fictitious businesses and can be downloaded free of charge. It shows the structure, not the quality of a real export.

Assess the market first?

The official number of businesses per industry and per region gives an indication of the size of a target group.
